ABOUT · EST. 2013

Engineers building for engineers and founders.

We started in 2013 as an engineering consultancy, taking on builds that were harder than they looked from the outside. That work continues. What changed is how early we get involved. We now help decide what the product should be before we build it, mostly in health, energy, and deep tech.

The hard part was never the code.

Anyone can get code written now. What stays scarce is judgment: knowing what to build, and knowing what will give way once real users and regulators show up. An agency will take your spec and hand back exactly what it describes. We would rather start a step earlier, at the problem, and be answerable for whether the result works as a business.

How we work with you

01

We work inside your team

We join your Slack and your standups. If we think the roadmap is wrong, you will hear about it in the meeting, while changing course is still cheap.

02

We take on the hard parts

A lot of software work is wiring existing services together. That isn't what we're for. We build custom hardware and backends that have to hold under real load, and we ship AI systems with evaluation and cost control already in them.

03

How we get paid

Most work is billed as cash. A few times a year we'll take a share of the business in place of part of the fee. That is a bigger commitment on both sides, so we only do it when we would want to own the outcome ourselves.

I started MBARC in 2013. I still write code here. When you book a call you get me, not a salesperson working from a script, so the awkward technical questions can be asked in the first conversation. If I think we are the wrong people for what you're building, I would rather say so early.
